Main supplier for EU Championships in TeamGym 2021

The 13th European Championships in TeamGym were supposed to take place in 2020 with the host country Denmark, but unfortunately, because of the Covid-19 situation the date was postponed, and the place of the event was changed. At the end of the year 2021, from the 1 st till the 4 th of December, the breathtaking European Championship in TeamGym 2021 was organized by the Portuguese Gymnastics Federation (FGP) and held in Guimaraes, Portugal.

Gymnastics equipment

As it comes without saying – all events must be prepared as good as possible. For events related to sports the main key to success is safe, efficient and high-quality equipment. To avoid hazardous situations and prevent injuries of athletes, the equipment must be the best quality, secure and reliable. It is really challenging for organizations to choose one supplier among many companies. However, after a competition, the last year’s main supplier of gymnastics equipment for European Championships in TeamGym 2021 was PE-Redskaber. It was an honor to be a part of the championship and we are proud to be trusted with PE-Redskaber’s gymnastics equipment for such an important event.

About the competition

It is one of the youngest European gymnastics events that takes place every two years. TeamGym is a gymnastics discipline developed as a team, displaying skills on three levels: Floor, Tumble and Trampet. In all three disciplines the gymnasts must show their excellent teamwork and technique with difficult skills in acrobatic and gymnastics elements. Furthermore, the competition is in divided into three sections: women, men and mixed teams of both Junior and Senior categories.

Performances

Supported by an enthusiastic crowd, the spectacular performances of close to 500 competing gymnasts, representing 14 national federations, in a total of 38 teams (Juniors and Seniors) had started. Traditionally one of the top TeamGym countries, Sweden outclassed everyone with a remarkable performance in the men’s team final with a score of 61.350 which guaranteed the European title. Great Britain, which has never won an official European TeamGym medal before, ended up being second by Sweden in the overall medal table with a total of 5 medals and for the first time ever, their junior mixed team found themselves on the top step of the podium. Even more interesting, two countries got the exact same total result in the finals! The women senior teams of Sweden and Iceland shared the same score of 57.250. This year a lot of new countries had a triumph, winning medals for the first time. You can read more about the final results here.

PE-Redskaber in Portugal

Even so the whole event was broadcast live by “European Gymnastics”, and several teams like Danish and Norwegian had to withdraw their participation due to the corona situation, however, our team from PE-Redskaber went to Portugal to support the participating athletes from all over the Europe and provide with safe and solid equipment.

  • Our team went to Portugal few days earlier to prepare equipment for the event, make sure everything is in the right places, safe and ready to be used.
  • On the 1st day, after amazing dance/acrobatic opening ceremony, the junior qualifications started. First the junior men, then the junior women and in the end the junior mixed teams started to qualify.
  • On the 2nd day there were the senior qualifications. The teams tried to qualify for the finals.
  • On the 3rd there were the junior finals. After each section there was an award ceremony where the teams went to the podium.
  • On the 4th of December the senior finals started, also with the award ceremonies in between. In the evening, Shooting Star award and All-star award ceremony has started. Fun fact: All Star Nicole Hosseini became the first woman to successfully compete a triple on trampet!
  • The Championships got closed by a closing ceremony with the official announcement, that next year’s host country of TeamGym will be Luxembourg and the event will be in September 2022.
  • Through out the whole event our team was not only always ready to help or repair the equipment if needed, but also to answer all the questions from the athletes, trainers or interested enthusiasts.

To sum up, firstly, we would like to congratulate all the teams for an outstanding performance and their really hard and difficult but at the same time amazingly beautiful work. Secondly, we would like to thank the Portuguese Gymnastics Federation for trusting us with the supply of the gymnastics equipment. We are delighted to hear the positive comments from the gymnasts and coaches, and we are more than happy to be able to be a part of this wonderful event.
